Recently voted as one of the top Jazz Guitarists in the 2022 Downbeat Critics and Readers Polls for the 15th time, Stryker was a long-time Stanley Turrentine bandmember (along with Santa Fe pianist Bob Fox), and has played with Freddie Hubbard, James Moody, Dizzy Gillespie, Jimmy Smith, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Jimmy Heath, Eliane Elias, Joe Lovano, and many others In the past several years, all the recordings on his own label (Strikezone Records) have reached the Top 10 (5 hitting #1) on JazzWeek. His 2023 album, Prime, which features his longstanding trio with Jared Gold on organ and McClenty Hunter on drums (the same trio that opened for Steely Dan’s 2002 summer tour) “grooves from start to finish with the precision of a trio that has been road-tested for the last 12 years.” (Jazz Guitar Today).
